Steve Starling the current the Managing Director, founded the Meta Managment Group in 2001. Steve is a mature Director with a proven record in business development, profitability improvement, and project management across Australia, Asia and the Middle East. He has gained over 20 years management experience in senior roles in the resource, engineering and construction sectors.
Previously Steve gained 20 years experience managing resource projects including Iron Ore in Pilbara, Alumina in South West, Copper in Northern Territory, Pipelines in NSW, Refineries in Saudi Arabia, and offshore platforms on the NW Self and Arabian Gulf. Steve has led engineering departments, construction workforces, commissioning teams and operational groups for Bechtel International, Worley Engineering, and Mobil Oil.
Steve recent work has included feasibility studies and economic modelling to assess the viability of new investments, expansion programs and turnaround strategies. He is particularly skilled in market analysis, technology assessment, and the planning, organising and launching of new ventures. He also a strong background in team building, management development, and advising senior executives on board formation and governance.
Steve holds a Master of Business Administration from, a Company Director's Diploma and is a qualified
Engineer. He is member of the Australian Instifute of Company Directors, the Institute of Management and a Life Member and Fellow if the Institute of Management Consultants.
Steve is a past president of the Australian Institute
for Management's Special Interest Group and was a State Council Member
of the Institute of Management Consultants.
As a Principal Associate, Geoff provides technology due-diligence
services as a member of the Meta Management Group Advisory Board.
Geoff's focus is to assist the development of new ventures, advise
on the commercialisation of technology ventures, provide technology
strategy analysis and development services, systems life-cycle support
and business start-up planning.
Geoff's previous roles include experience as a Director of Technology
Consulting with Mainsheet Corporate and a Principal Consultant with
the Management Consulting division of PricewaterhouseCoopers as
well as CSC and IBM. He has worked in a diverse range of industries
including finance, health care, education, utilities, government
services, agriculture, manufacturing and information technology.
Geoff's qualifications include an advanced diploma in Data Processing
and Information Technology and he is currently completing an MBA
majoring in project management.
Robert Bolton - Principal Associate - Performance Improvement and Project Management
Robert has over twenty years of executive management and project management experience in the construction, mining, IT, financial services sector and consulting sectors.
Robert has led a number of business development teams in a start-up environments. This has been from the concept to building block to implementation phases. These businesses include the Australian Derivatives Exchange (ADX), Dual Fuel Systems, IRM , Gulf Group and Wine Ark.
For five years Robert held leadership positions with Alexander Proudfoot / Phillip Crosby and Price Waterhouse Urwick. He has worked in a number of industries within Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia and the United Kingdom. Clients have included Westpac, Zurich Insurance, British American Tobacco (BAT), NZ Post, Lucent Technologies, Argyle Diamonds, P&0, Memorex Telex, Worsley Alumina, Kala Prima Coal, Normandy Mining, Iluka Resources and Metgasco.
Initially after completing his Civil Engineering Degree, Robert commenced his career with Leighton Contractors. For seven years, he led a number of different building, civil & mining projects. Robert holds a BE (Civil) from the University of Sydney and a MBA from Ashridge Management College - United Kingdom. He is also a certified Theory of Constraints (TOCICO) expert in Project Management, Operations and Finance & Accounting.

Colin Merritt - Principal Associate - Operational Improvement
and Performance Measurement
Colin gained over thirty years experience in business analysis,
performance management, operational improvement and strategic business
planning in a range of industries. Colin has also grown a successful
marketing business and coached business owners on marketing techniques
which have raised turnover and lifted profitability.
Colin
has also extensive line management experience in tertiary education,
government departments and private enterprise in the UK, Australia
and New Zealand. He has been involved in devising performance measurement
criteria for senior management, developing and implementing organisational
models for start-up companies, and assessing venture capital applications
for funding from venture capitalists, private investors and government
agencies.
Colin holds a Master of Business degree from Curtin University.
He is a past national director and past state president of the Institute
of Industrial Engineers, past state board member and is a life member
of the Australian Association of Apex Clubs.
